Meal Planning Monday #9 {25 May}

Last week, I didn't do a meal plan and I felt so unorganised! There was various reasons for not doing it - as it was my sister in law's birthday on Sunday and mine on Monday, we had the family round at ours for a bit of a party so we just bought food for that rather than our normal food shop, it was my birthday on Monday, so we were eating out and Thursday I was out at night watching Take That, so it seemed silly to plan for just Tuesday and Wednesday as we have some kind of treat tea on a Friday or Saturday night.

Not having a plan made me realise how much I have come to rely on meal planning. I don't always stick to the plan religiously and I might chop and change what we have on which days depending on how I'm feeling (or how much time I have to cook) but ultimately, I've found it a really useful tool and it's something I'll be continuing with.

So here is what we are eating this week:

Sunday: Lasagne with sw chips and salad
Monday: We are eating at my in-law's so I'm not cooking!
Tuesday: Sausage, mash and beans
Wednesday: Cottage pie (with sweet potato mash for me)
Thursday: Salmon, new potatoes and veg / salad
Friday: Chicken, noodles and veg or chicken enchiladas (I've not decided yet)
Saturday: Slimming World Chicken tikka masala curry

From this week, I'm really trying to give Slimming World another go. I've been on and off the wagon more than I care to remember, but I've had a wake up call recently and I am so unhappy, so it's time to do something about it.

I've also planned my lunches, so on the days I'm at work for lunch, I'll be having ham and egg salad's with bachelors beef noodles and the day's I'm home for lunch I'll be having omlette with peppers and side salad, bacon, egg and beans and home made soups. Saturday will be my hardest day as we are usually out at lunch time and the whole day is a 'treat' day from start to finish, but I'm going to make sure that I eat a good breakfast and if needs be, take my lunch out with me so I'm not tempted by a sausage sarnie at Starbucks!

What's on your menu this week?

  1. Sorry to read that you're unhappy Nic, come and join me on the SW wagon. You can make sure I don't fall off it (I may have eaten a bag of crisps and 3 biscuits whilst replying to a couple of emails!) I feel the same about a meal plan, if we don't plan anything I feel like we'd grab rubbish or think sod it and eat out which of course we can't afford (in £s and lbs!) Have a great week hun xx

  2. Ahhh thanks lovely. I'm trying SO hard to make better choices. I'm currently snacking on a banana, toffee muller yoghurt and an Alpen light as my 2nd hexb. Yesterday wasn't good (Starbucks kids hot choc, costa latte and tea at the inlaws, mash roasts and loads of gravy and a Yorkshire)!! But I've made better choices today and counted my syns which i'd not been doing. So here's hoping. You are doing sooo well. I know you've had a gain tonight but after your awful week I think it's great you only gained 2lbs. Thanks so much for the support xxxx
